Filologa e archeologa, si occupa principalmente dell’Anatolia preclassica, in particolare della cultura degli Ittiti. Nell’ambito delle sue ricerche di storia degli studi orientali coordina il progetto “Gruppo di Ricerca Interdisciplinare di Storia degli Studi Orientali” (GRISSO). Dirige la serie monografica Documenta Asiana – Collana di studi sull’Anatolia e l’Asia Anteriore antica (DA) del CNR, ed è coeditor della collana History of Ancient Near Eastern Studies and Egyptology (HANESE), Brill-De Gruyter. È PI del PRIN 2022 PNRR “DiWA – Dialogues between ancient Western Asia and us. Untold stories from Italian collections and archives”.
