Professional profile
Archaeologist | pre-Roman pottery specialist | Cultural Heritage specialist | Law, Administration, Policies and Management
I am specialised in Archaeology of early literate societies and early civilisations, as well as in the management and enhancement of archaeological heritage.
My research interests focus on the period spanning from the Protohistoric phase to the Orientalising period, with particular attention to the contacts between central Tyrrhenian Italy and the wider Mediterranean context. These interests are grounded in an interdisciplinary approach that combines archaeology, ancient history, and cultural anthropology, moving through funerary archaeology and archaeometry, as well as the application of new technologies.
I focus on pottery and metal productions involved in trans-Mediterranean contacts, in order to investigate the social role of craftspeople and gender differences, in light of the transformations occurring in Mediterranean societies between VIII and VI century B.C.
Furthermore, also thanks to my previous work experience as an archaeologist for the Italian Ministry of Culture, I deal with issues related to processes and models for the management and enhancement of archaeological heritage, including through the application of new technologies as tool of governance of cultural heritage.
Since 2014, as a member of the European Association of Archaeologists, and a member of its Executive Board since 2020 for two consecutive terms until 2024. I have also been involved in policies concerning the archaeological profession at the European level.
