Institutional Collaborations
The Institute of Heritage Science operates through a structured network of formalized collaborations with Italian and international institutions. These collaborations are not an ancillary activity, but rather represent the standard mode through which CNR ISPC carries out its mission of knowledge development, conservation, and enhancement of cultural heritage.
ISPC’s scientific network is deeply rooted in the national scientific community. The list of active agreements with Italian university departments, interdepartmental centers, heritage authorities (Soprintendenze), museums, and departments of the Ministry of Culture demonstrates a systematic integration with the Italian system of research and heritage protection. The Institute’s presence across seven branches distributed throughout the country further articulates this network on a territorial basis: each ISPC branch maintains close partnerships with the university, museum, and heritage protection systems within its regional context, contributing to a widespread geographical coverage. Alongside this national core, there is an international network of relationships with university departments and research centers in other countries, as well as participation in transnational scientific networks.
These institutional collaborations make it possible to carry out activities that, by their nature, require shared expertise and resources:
- joint research projects at national and European levels
- excavation campaigns and field investigations
- diagnostic and conservation interventions on specific assets
- reciprocal access to laboratories and digital infrastructures
- joint training of doctoral students and early-career researchers
- shared management of data and archives.
