Professional profile

Conservation Scientist | Preventive conservation | Microclimate study | Energy and Environmental simulation | Culture-based climate action

Conservation scientist, specialised on the study of microclimate data for the preventive conservation of cultural heritage. She earned a PhD in Environment and cultural heritage at Sapienza University of Rome, with a project focussing on the combined use of field measurements and building dynamic simulation for the climate-induced risk assessment in historic libraries.

She currently works on the integration of non-invasive diagnostics techniques and digital models for the energy and environmental improvement of historical buildings and on culture-based adaptation and mitigation of built heritage to climate change.

Her research activities focus on:

  • implementation of integrated approaches leveraging non-invasive diagnostic techniques for the energy and environmental analysis of built heritage (environmental monitoring, thermal imaging, heat flux meter, blower door test, etc.);
  • interoperable simulative approaches based on dynamic building performance simulation (BPS), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and heritage building information modelling (HBIM) to study historical buildings and traditional architectural settlements as a function of their specific characteristics and local climate conditions.
