Archaeologist | Excavation | Studies on Material Culture | Interdisciplinary Research
Her main areas of research are: the archaeology of Cretan Iron Age and Archaic period, and Greek Archaic and Classical period archaeology in Sicily.
She is the Director of the Italian Archaeological Mission in Priniàs. She is currently the Principal Investigator (PI) of the publication project of the Siderospilia necropolis and of PRIN 2022. She has been also the principal investigator of international projects with CNRS-MISHA, DFG and Demokritos about Cretan archaeology.
In the field of coroplastic studies, she is the co-founder and a member of the international research group on Greek terracotta figurines, The Association for Coroplastic Studies and the scientific director of the study and publication of coroplastic finds from the votive deposit in Piazza San Francesco in Catania.
She is the author of four monographs and editor of four volumes, as well as being the author of numerous articles in scientific journals, books and international conference proceedings.
In 2017, she obtained the national abilitation as a full professor in the scientific disciplinary sector ARCH-01/D Classical Archaeology (ex 10/1A Archaeology and L-ANT/07 Classical Archaeology). She sits on the advisory committee for the PhD In Humanities at the University of Foggia, and is also a member of the teaching staff for the PhD in Cultural Heritage Sciences at the University of Palermo.
