Archaeologist. He is a professor in “Archaeological Research Methodologies”, “Landscape Archaeology” and “Archaeology of Magna Graecia” at the University of Basilicata. He has been unanimously qualified (ASN calls 2012 and 2023, Competitive Sector Archaeology, 10/A1) to hold the position of Associate Professor.

He is the author of numerous publications in the field of Classical Archaeology and Landscape Archaeology. He is currently engaged in study and research in the field of archaeological research methodologies and directs projects aimed at the study and enhancement of ancient settlements in southern Italy and Greece.

He has participated in numerous national and international conferences with contributions and topics related to artefacts from the classical age and aspects of the transformation of ancient and medieval landscapes, as well as those dedicated to information technology applied to archaeology.

He has coordinated numerous archaeological excavation campaigns in Greece and Italy. He currently directs an archaeological excavation (Metaponto), a survey (chora of Herakleia) in Basilicata and an international archaeological mission in Greece (Kastrì on the Acheron river).

He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the journal “Siris” of the School of Specialisation in Archaeological Heritage in Matera. He is a scientific member of the Board of Directors (CDA) of the Museums and Archaeological Parks of Melfi and Venosa – Basilicata. He is responsible for the Landscape Archaeology Laboratory, at the Archaeology Laboratory of the UNIBAS (SSBA-Matera), which is dedicated to the activities of the CNR and focuses on the classification and study of archaeological artefacts from various archaeological investigations in Southern Italy.

He promotes interdisciplinary archaeological research with the aim of coordinating working groups and publishing archaeological investigations in collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines, some specifically archaeological (excavation, infrasite survey methodologies), others from other fields, such as pollen analysis, geochemistry, archaeometry, archaeobotany, or with scholars of remote sensing and geophysical prospecting or for specific computer procedures on GIS. He is scientific director of bilateral transnational and European projects.

He is the author of lectures related to the promotion of archaeological research results to the community (“Public Archaeology”) with the conception and scientific curation of exhibitions, participation in scientific committees and the dissemination of ancient heritage through theatrical performances and exhibitions.
