Specialist in Classical Archaeology, Etruscology, and Archaeology of Pre-Roman Italy, with a focus on Southern Italy. Research areas: Etruscan and Magna Graecia goldsmiths, pre-Roman figured ambers, bronze vases, and Athenian and South Italian figured vases.
His interests focuses primarily on the Orientalizing, Archaic, and Classical periods, with particular attention to the formation of aristocracies and social identity, "gifts" and prestigious objects. He also delves into issues related to the close cultural contacts between Apulia, ancient Basilicata, and the Tyrrhenian area, with particular attention on the presence of many prestigious objects imported and placed in the grave goods of leading people at the top of their communities, their meaning, and the underlying symbolism. Very important is the approach to the study of contexts, focusing on the study of the deceased's social identity and forms of self-representation.
Specialized in the study of pre-Roman figured ambers from Southern Italy, with particular attention to the identification of workshops, distribution networks, and the study of the clientele involved in this phenomenon.
