Professional profile
Geophysicist | Diagnosys scientist | Cultural Heritage scientist | Environmental scientist
The research activities focus on topics related to non-invasive diagnostics using applied geophysical methods, particularly impulsive electromagnetic (Ground Penetrating Radar - GPR), seismic, magnetic, and microgravimetric survey techniques. The main research topics focus on the understanding, conservation, and enhancement of cultural heritage. Research results, presented at national and international conferences (including invited talks) and published in numerous internationally renowned journals, numerous prestigious assignments from international institutions, and four patents related to the invention of instrumentation for cultural heritage diagnostics, demonstrate the high level of expertise and prestige achieved nationally and internationally in the application of applied geophysical diagnostic methods for the enhancement of cultural heritage.
The main research topics are:
- Integration of physical methods for non-invasive diagnostics for monumental heritage;
- Non-invasive diagnostic technologies applied to archaeology and cultural heritage;
- Integrated non-invasive diagnostic investigations for geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and environmental studies at sites of significant historical and archaeological importance;
- Experimentation with 2D and 3D visualization techniques for the analysis and interpretation of non-invasive diagnostic data through the implementation of dedicated algorithms;
- Inverse problems and modeling of seismic tomography, GPR, and electrical resistivity data;
- Microgravimetric investigations for archaeological applications;
- Geostatistical analysis of non-invasive diagnostic data through the use of applied geophysical methodologies for 3D and 4D modeling of the subsurface and monuments;
- Development of innovative instrumentation and software for the acquisition of physical parameters potentially related to the state of conservation of cultural heritage.
