Professional profile

Archaeologist | Bronze Age | Pottery studies | Prehistoric museum collections | Cultural Heritage Communication | Cultural Heritage Valorisation

I deal with prehistoric and protohistoric archaeology and the communication, interpretation and valorisation of cultural heritage.

I specialised in pre-protohistoric archaeology in 2011 at the University of Padua, where I obtained my PhD in 2015. My research interests in prehistoric archaeology focus on the Bronze Age in northern Italy and cultural connections with other European areas through material culture. I develop this research through the study of artefacts – especially ceramics – and published and unpublished contexts, and distributional analyses of settlements.

During my postdoctoral research, I broadened my interests to include the history of the formation of prehistoric museum collections, with implications for the study of artefacts now preserved in museums and the analysis of how prehistory has been and is perceived, understood and communicated to the general public. Today, I am developing this theme as a line of research through the study of museum collections, the reconstruction of their history, the connection between the history of research and the artefacts, and the analysis of perceptions of the concept of prehistory and how they have changed over time.

I also work in cultural heritage and research communication. I combine scientific communication and storytelling in various projects aimed at promoting and disseminating knowledge. This skill also stems from my experience in improvisational theatre, a discipline I have practised for many years, which is closely linked to the narrative and creative aspects of communication.
