Professional profile
Conservation Scientist | Heritage Materials Characterization | Biodeterioration Analysis | Raman Spectroscopy
She holds a PhD in Biology Applied to Cultural Heritage and a Master’s Degree in Science and Technology for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. She possesses a highly interdisciplinary academic and professional background, spanning from biological sciences to advanced chemical-physical diagnostics. Her research activity is established through the study of biodeterioration mechanisms in stone materials and the integrated characterisation of metal artefacts, paintings, and manuscripts, with a specific focus on the analysis of the composition and degradation of constituent materials.
An expert in the application of non-invasive analytical techniques (micro-Raman, XRF) and electron microscopy (SEM-EDS), she specialises in the characterisation of materials and the evaluation of the effectiveness of innovative and eco-friendly conservation treatments, such as natural biocides. Her experience includes in situ and laboratory diagnostic investigations on major archaeological sites and museum collections, aimed at preventive conservation and the safeguarding of cultural heritage.
