Professional profile
Digital Heritage Technologist | IoT Systems Designer for Cultural Heritage | Environmental Monitoring and Sensor Networks | Electronics and Firmware Prototyping | Preventive Conservation Technology | Data Acquisition and Digital Diagnostics
I work on the research, development and application of digital technologies for the protection and conservation of historical heritage. With a degree in Cultural Heritage Conservation, I have built my professional path with the aim of integrating humanistic knowledge and technical‑scientific skills, with a particular interest in library heritage, historical archives and complex monumental environments. My work stems from the desire to deeply understand materials, degradation processes and environmental dynamics, and to develop technological tools that can support preventive conservation in a sustainable manner and with full respect for the integrity of cultural artefacts.
I am among the principal creators of the SENNSE platform, a CNR digital infrastructure dedicated to real‑time environmental monitoring and data management for cultural heritage conservation. Through SENNSE, I contribute to the development of distributed systems for the acquisition, analysis and visualization of microclimatic and structural data, with the goal of providing technical and scientific personnel with reliable tools to interpret environmental conditions and make informed decisions.
Driven by a passion for electronics, radio communication, making and 3D printing, I design and build electronic circuits, dedicated firmware and hardware prototypes for monitoring systems, non‑invasive diagnostics and real‑time data acquisition. My work covers the entire development cycle: from defining sensor architectures to rapid prototyping, from system integration to on‑site validation, and finally to the management of data flows through advanced digital platforms. I focus, in particular, on sensor networks and IoT solutions for monitoring critical parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, illuminance, air quality, and microclimatic and structural conditions in museums, libraries, archives and historic sites.
Within CNR ISPC, I take part in national and international projects dedicated to preventive conservation, contributing to the design of low‑impact technological infrastructures that are fully reversible and compatible with conservation requirements. I collaborate daily with developers, art historians, engineers and ICT specialists to design integrated solutions that enable the understanding, prediction and mitigation of environmental risks threatening cultural heritage.
My research aims to build a stable bridge between digital innovation and heritage protection, promoting the responsible use of emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, distributed sensor networks, rapid prototyping and data‑analysis platforms. My goal is to provide replicable, sustainable and easily integrable tools that enhance conservation processes, with particular attention to sensitive materials, library collections and historical environments characterized by complex microclimatic conditions.
