Space to Tree: Earth Observation based monitoring of Natural and historical Park

Acronym: Space to Tree – S23

Description

The project is aimed at creating a multiscale, multisensor remote sensing system for monitoring the state of vegetation in historic and archaeological parks with a focus on monumental trees, forest cover and undergrowth that are an essential component of the parks' cultural, natural and landscape values. The system is designed to be reapplied in urban green areas. The goal is to develop a decision-support and monitoring system for natural parks of historical and archaeological interest.

The methodological and technological development activity was tested and applied on two case studies:

  • the Colosseum Archaeological Park in Rome
  • the Metaponto Nature Reserve
