Professional profile

Material scientist | Conservation Scientist | XAS data analyst | Computational Scientist

She is specialised in the experimental analysis and simulation of X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XANES and EXAFS) data for the structural and electronic characterization of pictorial materials. Her research places strong emphasis on advanced experimental data treatment and on the preparation of samples specifically optimized for XAS measurements, ensuring analytical robustness and reproducibility in the investigation of complex pigment systems.

Her work focuses on both historical artists’ pigments and synthetic analogues, integrating spectroscopic data analysis and computational modeling to elucidate oxidation states, local atomic structure, and degradation mechanisms in cultural heritage materials.

She received her PhD in Organic Photonics from University College London (UCL). Her broader scientific interests include photonic materials and optoelectronic devices, reflecting a multidisciplinary background that bridges fundamental materials science and applied research in cultural heritage conservation.
