European Conference on X-Ray Spectrometry

The CNR ISPC is pleased to announce the 2026 edition of the European Conference on X-Ray Spectrometry (EXRS2026), to be held 14–19 June 2026 at Le Ciminiere in Catania, Italy. The event is organized in cooperation with the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud of INFN (LNS-INFN) and the University of Catania. The Chair of EXRS2026 is Francesco Paolo Romano, CNR ISPC.
About the Conference
EXRS 2026 continues the long-standing tradition of the EXRS conference series, providing an international forum for scientists, researchers, and professionals to present and discuss recent advances in X-ray spectrometry, related analytical techniques, and their applications across a wide range of scientific and technological fields.
Keynote and invited lectures
The scientific program will feature keynote and invited lectures delivered by internationally renowned experts in X-ray spectrometry, including:

Researchers are invited to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations. Abstracts must be prepared in accordance with the submission guidelines and submitted via the EasyChair platform. Detailed instructions for abstract submission are available on the conference website under the Call for Abstracts – EXRS 2026 page.
The abstract submission system is now open, Authors are invited to submit their abstracts no later than March 2, 2026.
Please note that abstract submission is independent of conference registration. Only abstracts submitted by registered participants who have completed the conference fee payment will be included in the final scientific program.
Scientific Topics
Authors are invited to submit abstracts addressing fundamental, methodological, and applied aspects of X-ray spectrometry, including but not limited to:
- Interactions of X-rays with matter
- X-ray fundamental parameters
- Quantification, simulation, and modelling
- X-ray sources, optics, detectors, and high-resolution set-ups
- X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopy
- TXRF, GIXRF, and GEXRF techniques
- Synchrotron imaging techniques with nano- and micro-beams
- PIXE, EPMA, XRD, and complementary techniques
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning in X-ray spectrometry
- Applications in cultural heritage, biology and health, environment, nanotechnology, energy materials, electrochemistry, and industrial production
Interdisciplinary contributions and emerging applications are particularly encouraged.
Publication
All accepted abstracts will be included in the Book of Abstracts of EXRS 2026. Presenting authors will be invited to submit full-length manuscripts for consideration in a special issue of X-Ray Spectrometry, following the journal’s standard peer-review procedures.
